The defence depended on this: a water tank

In addition to the four-meter tank on Kamin at a height of 60 m, visible from the foot of the rocks, another tank was cut down at the Dytynets. It consisted of two parts: the upper, square, wooden superstructure; and the lower one – a 13.97 m deep water storage tank carved out of stone. It is assumed that it was cut down in the 13th century.

To fill the tanks with water, a 30.4 m deep well was cut in the rock at the foot of Kamin. Special mechanisms lifted the water up, and there was enough water for fifty men for 200 days in the tanks.

Після великої пожежі у ХІV ст. цистерну перестали використовувати. Тоді зсунувся грунт, багато предметів потрапили всередину цистерни і природно законсервувалися землею. Один з найцікавіших артефактів, знайдених там – металевий щиток перстня із зображенням птаха в колі орнаменту, схожий на печатки галицьких бояр.
