In the 13th-14th centuries, there were wooden rock fortifications on the rock groups of Ostryi Kamin and Mala Skelia - guard posts on the approaches to Kamin. From there you can see the valley of the Stryi River, so when the watchman saw the enemy approach, he used smoke, fire or the sound of trembita to notify Kamin.

Numerous traces of wooden buildings have been preserved on Ostryi Kamin: grooves, notches, a 8 m deep water tank. During the archaeological research of Ostryi Kamin, fragments of ceramic dishes (13th–14th centuries) and iron objects – a knife, a key, a small chisel – were found.

-На скельних групах Острий Камінь та Мала Скеля у XIII-XIV ст. були дерев’яні наскельні укріплення – сторожові пункти на підступах до Каменя. Звідти видно долину річки Стрий, тож коли сторожа бачила наближення ворога, то димом, вогнем або звуком трембіти повідомляла на Камінь.

-На Острому Камені збереглися численні сліди від дерев’яної забудови: пази, вруби, цистерна для води завглибшки 8 м. Під час археологічних досліджень Острого Каменя знайшли фрагменти керамічного посуду (ХІІІ–XIV ст.) та залізні предмети: ніж, ключ, невелике долото.
